Few sporting events compare with the excitement and fun that surrounds the Super Bowl. Football fans wait all year watching their favorite teams duke it out until just two remain in this massive battle that will determine who the best of the best players are. Millions of spectators watch the action on TV and a good chunk of people make a point of attending the live event. The next Super Bowl is no exception as many people are already gearing up to attend the Super Bowl 51 even though no one yet knows who will even be in the largest football match. If you’re one of the many hoping to attend the big game, here are a few things to keep in mind for the 2017 event.
1. The venue of Super Bowl 51 is NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas. Some people will find information stating that the venue is Reliant Stadium and this is also correct. The decision on the venue was decided in 2013 when Reliant Stadium had not yet changed its name to NRG Stadium. The name change happened in 2014.
2. The big game will be played on Sunday, February 5th, 2017. Houston is a vibrant city to say the least and this will be the third time for the city to play host to the Super Bowl. The first time was in 1974 and the second in 2004. The sporting action will be aired nationally as always for those who might not make it in person.
3. There are several hotels in the area catering to a variety of budgets, but if you want to attend, book now or risk a sellout! As with any sporting event, the sooner you can book the better because it will give you the most options to choose from. When rooms begin to sell out the cheaper ones tend to go first.
4. Start thinking now about what you want to do outside of the game. The game is a big deal yes, but there are also many attractions in Houston to consider before and after the Super Bowl. The Houston Zoo, Memorial Park and Hermann Park are just three out door activities to choose from, and there are plenty more! In terms of shopping, you might enjoy the Galleria and Rice Village shops. Museum fans might like the Houston Museum of Natural Science and if you prefer the nightlife make a stop at Pete’s famous Dueling Piano Bar. There are also biking and boating tours and a plethora of other options to keep you entertained from the moment you arrive in Houston until it’s time to leave.
